"Kachina Spirit" at Galerie Flak in Paris is the first kachina doll exhibition to take place in a private French art gallery. We have gathered a unique collection of over 100 ritual dolls made by Hopi & Zuni Indians between 1890 and 1950. These kachina dolls come from prestigious collections worldwide (provenance: Claude Levi-Strauss, Jacques Lacan, Paul Coze, the Smithsonian Institution, the Museum of Indian School in Santa Fe, the Heye Foundation, etc.)
On this occasion, we have published a bilingual book (English/French) with the collaboration of Barton Wright, former curator of Museum of Northern Arizona and world-renowned kachina specialist, Francine Ndiaye, former curator of MusČe de l'Homme in Paris, Pierre Amrouche, expert in tribal art and Nathalie Rheims, contemporary French novelist.
