This ritual figure shows an extraordinary vitality and its style is highly characteristic of the aesthetics of the Papuan Gulf.
This rare type of human bark figure is known as urumuruburu. As stated by the South Australia Museum in Adelaide, these charms were placed in the Men's House in proximity to skulls charms. As with the larger Bioma figures, the painted motifs are specific to each clan.
