This remarkable sculpture was collected on the field in the Papuan Gulf by George Craig, a world renowned crocodile hunter and field collector from Australia. On the back of the figure, several handwritten inscriptions read: “HAKEMA”, Naro Village, AIRA (sic) River, collected by G. Craig, 1967
