This Vili / Kongo female fetish figure was used in healing and fertility rituals. It could also be worn as an amulets and serve as charm of protection.
The carving was conceived as the receptacle of supernatural powers and had to adhere to specific ritual and aesthetic prescriptions.

This female figure is distinguished by its refinement and intense expressivity.
