For the 25th edition of Parcours des Mondes, we are thrilled to return to our historic gallery at 8 rue des Beaux-Arts.
To celebrate this event, the gallery is partnering for the second time with visionary designer Harry Nuriev (Crosby Studios).
We have created a novel dialogue where ancient arts from Africa, Oceania and North America meet the contemporary lines of a custom-designed setting. A confrontation of forms and worlds to be discovered during Parcours.

These figures are distinguished by their evocative power: they embody in wood the living word of the ancestors and the founding myths that guide and unite Kanak society.
The geometrization of features and the strength emanating from these faces are characteristic of New Caledonia’s classical aesthetic. Notably, these three historical works were exhibited together in the landmark exhibition “L’Art ancestral des Kanak” at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Chartres in 2009.
Faced with such prominent noses, Cyrano’s words naturally come to mind:
“’Tis a rock! … ’tis a peak! … ’tis a cape!
A cape? Say rather, a peninsula!”

Then, casting one’s gaze lower, the words of Tristan Tzara take on their full meaning:
“The mouth contains the power of the dark, invisible substance, goodness, fear, wisdom, creation, fire.”

Set against a dreamlike fresco evoking fantasized horizons, the pure lines and sacred power of ancient works from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas find their anchor in Crosby Studios’ signature metallic minimalism.
This new vis-à-vis transcends time and space. The reflections of contemporary steel echo the patina of the wood. More than just an installation, it is a theatrical and immersive staging where past and present reflect one another, revealing their universal power.
